Transition Coburg has always worked very closely with the Robinson’s Reserve Neighbourhood House (104a Reynard Street, Coburg). Greg, the house co-ordinator, has just been in touch about a new, evening program they are running called ‘Strong Local Communities for a World of Change’. The program will facilitate small group discussions about questions such as: What social, environmental and political changes can we expect in coming years and decades? Can we prepare for change we don’t control? How have other communities responded to big changes in the past? Absolutely no expertise or experience necessary. This is about local people having a discussion about their own neighbourhood and communities.
The program aims to provide a safe and respectful space for discussion and learning about how to create just, sustainable and resilient local communities, now and into the future.
To be held at the Robinson’s Reserve Neighbourhood House, this program starts on Wednesday, 23 July, and goes for ten weeks, each session being held on Wednesday evenings from 7pm-9.30 pm. The cost is $9 per session (conc. $5), but note that the whole course must be paid for, rather than treating this as a drop in discussion, in order to foster a close group dynamic. This is definitely a project to support.
